Love?

I heard an add over the radio today. It was a conversation of a couple like on their first date. It went something like this -

W : So... tell me more about yourself...
M : Well, I have a home filled with Italian designer furniture and Persian carpets ...blah blah ...

The conversation then fades off and I hear a blurb about CIMB's latest financing product which gives customers a chance to win a contest to makeover their homes or something like that. And then the conversation comes on again ...

W : Oh! ... I love you!!

I burst out in laughter. It may be seen by some as sexist (I am instantly reminded of the Bufori ad which caused a stir many years ago) but it was flaky and so funny it was a downright joke. Malaysian ads were never appreciated for frank honesty but this ad is waaay deceptive.
Deception 1 : Money cannot buy good taste or style. You may win the dough to get some of that Italian designer furniture, but if u ain't got the taste to put it all together, your home will just look like a crass exhibit of ugliness!
Deception 2 : Designer furniture won't buy you some lovin'! She doesn't get to keep it, does she?? Trust me, if love can be bought, the price to pay would be designer jewelry. Think Harry Winston, Mauboussin and Tiffany. Every woman will say I love you to those! Unless, of course, she had discovered your love for very ugly designer furniture!
Deception 3 : If you are lucky enuf to win a home makeover, you'll be lucky enuf to have a girl tell you she loves you on your first date?? Seriously, how does one come up with such an absurd idea of probability?!
Deception 4 : No girl is gonna say I love you to designer furniture and persian carpets she hasn't seen. You'll have to take her home for that, but that's another hurdle altogether.
It's such a comedy coming from Malaysia's fastest growing banking group. I wonder if CIMB's customers are going out right now to pickout designer furniture or dates who have them.
