Effective Follow Up

It’s another normal uneventful (boring) professional workday when az told me that a ‘gift’ was waiting for me at the reception. Filled with suspense, and wondering why she couldn’t just pick it up for me, I went downstairs to be greeted by a box of godiva chocolates with the bearer of the gift trading it over for a filled questionnaire.

The questions and my answers went somewhat like this :

Q : What do you remember of the event of 9 September 2005?
A : Chicago performance, jazz performance by Mia Palencia and that other (fat) lady, pictures – lots of pictures [I wanted to include the delicious BKT supper, but that didn't go well with the 'sheer elegance' feel of the event ]
*they should have guessed, it’s not easy to remember events of 9 September 2005 considering the state of mind we were in*

Q : What was good about the event?
A : Free drinks! Champagne! Beautiful setting, great entertainment and excellent location

Q : What were you dissatisfied with?
A : Magic Sticks too expensive!!!! And the service was slow, extremely slow.

Next came the inevitable questions on Magic Sticks. “please mark one (being most negative) to seven (being most positive)” when considering Magic Sticks of D, M, S and 7s. The concepts were like -

“which is most international?”
“which is most appealing?”
“which is most modern”
“which is most sophisticated”
As expected, Magic Sticks D had many sevens.

I am impressed by the marketing and advertising genius displayed.

"bringing you the world"

was invited to an exclusive event last weekend at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The invite came hand delivered a few weeks ago complete in its silver case. the dress code was "sheer elegance" and this was one occasion where we took the effort to get all dressed up to party party party!

The event went perfectly, despite the bad traffic getting into the heart of KL and the initial hitches at the entrance about the invites and the passwords. We were surrounded by an endless display of beautiful people and celebrities and served with an endless supply of drinks with the bubbly moet making its entrance at 11 pm. The entertainment included a performance by a popular local jazz musician, a stage performance of the musical Chicago complete with its famed lights and staircase.

Thanks to zal who invited all of us, fai for getting me home safely and all my friends who made this event a great night to remember!

Under the stars with Anthony

Anthony Bourdain was recently in town last May and i had the opportunity to meet him in person at Luna Bar, thanks to EC who informed me of this event. Although i love his show A Cook's Tour on channel 11 discovery and adventure, i was initially quite reluctant to go as i was tired from work and it was a working day the next, and mostly it was pouring heavily that entire evening. But luckily for me my buddies lis and pl were all excited to meet him!
Luckily for us the weather that night was perfect for a Luna Bar night. After two bottles of wine we were so excited giggly and nervous on meeting Anthony. And as can be seen in the pictures, we had a great time. Lis had his autograph on her little silver/red notepad as well as chef wan's, chef wan being the other celebrity that we had the pleasure of meeting.
